Bowen Technique
A straight forward, no nonsense remedial therapy that is non—intrusive, gentle and very effective for relieving stress and anxiety.
The Bowen technique is primarily a remedial therapy tool. It differs from many other forms of therapy in that it offers the body the opportunity to restore structural integrity.
The technique consists of a series of moves across muscle, tendon and other soft tissue. The therapist uses his or her fingers or thumbs on specific areas, applying gentle pressure to effect a movement of the tissue. The majority of the moves can be performed through light clothing such as tee shirts and leggings.
There is no.....
- hard tissue manipulation
- adjustments or high velocity moves
- massaging or use of oils
- deep or prolonged pressure
There are very few situations where Bowen cannot be used safely and to good effect. People of every age, from new- born babies to the elderly and everyone else in between! It is an excellent treatment for back pain, neck pain and frozen shoulder, sciatica, sports injuries, migraine and asthma and many, many other conditions. It helps the body make fine adjustments, relieving tension, reducing pain and initiating the healing process.
During the treatment, the therapist will make a few moves and usually go out of the room thus allowing your body to deal with those moves, or ‘rest’ for a few moments.
